Dreams of Passion screened with pioneering Black filmmaker Jessie Maple’s Twice As Nice at New York’s IFC Center as part of Declaration of Independents!, a nine-day series presented by IndieCollect and IFC Center. Aarin introduced the July 9 screening in person. IFC described Dreams of Passion as a groundbreaking exploration of desire that challenged norms of representation and opened doors for queer Black visibility in cinema. Pairing restored works by Burch and Maple placed two pioneering Black women filmmakers in conversation and brought Dreams of Passion to a major New York theatrical audience.
