Aarin Burch’s newly restored Dreams of Passion screened for the first time at Oakland’s historic Grand Lake Theatre as part of Cinemama’s fourth annual Reel Queer Flix. The program brought together seven shorts by queer Bay Area filmmakers, welcomed more than 450 people, and opened Oakland Pride week with a celebration of local LGBTQ+ film history and community. Cinemama selected Dreams of Passion as part of its commitment to honoring the filmmakers who came before, placing Burch’s early work in an intergenerational program that concluded with a filmmaker Q&A.
